Biennial Conference
We hold a business meeting and "family reunion" every two years that features social activities and elections of officers.
Our 2026 Strother Family Conference was held in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on July 15-18. This was a special conference celebrating the 40th anniversary of the William Strother Society along with the 250th anniversary of our nation (also referred to as the United States Semiquincentennial). Some of the highlights of the conference included:
- Two trips to Ferry Farm—one on Wednesday for dinner, and another on Friday where an archeologist exhibited Strother and Washington-era artifacts.
- A docent-led tour of Mount Vernon, including the mansion and gardens of this 50-acre site.
- A trip to King George County to visit various Strother historical sites, including St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Millbank property (once owned by the Strothers), Emmanuel Episcopal Church (where many Strothers are buried), and a tour of the historic Kenmore mansion and museum.
- An uplifting closing dinner at the Woolen Mill venue on the Rappahannock River, with speakers, Revolutionary War-era music, and plenty of photo ops as we reflected on the amazing lineage that we share and the important roles the Strothers played in the founding of our country.
